1 million tourist visits in 3 months — Georgia sets a new record
The first quarter of 2026 closed with a strong figure: almost 1 million tourists — 997,529 visits. This is +4% compared to last year and a new all-time high for the country.
Importantly, this refers specifically to tourists, not just the overall flow of border crossings. This means that Georgia is not simply “processing traffic,” but continues to strengthen as a full-fledged destination for both leisure and living.
Turkey remains the leader in terms of the number of visits, but markets with higher purchasing power are playing an increasingly noticeable role. The top countries consistently include the USA, the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, China, and others.
The dynamics from Europe deserve special attention: the flow from European Union countries and the United Kingdom increased by 30% and reached 96,226 visits. This is no longer just growth, but a systematic strengthening of the destination.
Against the backdrop of this data, it becomes clear that Georgia continues to strengthen not only as a mass tourist destination, but also as a market attracting a “heavier” tourist — with longer stays and higher spending.
In the long term, it is precisely these changes in the structure of tourist flow that have a key impact on the country’s economy and real estate market.
